about

This is a 5 track EP inspired by Bill Vencil's 5 week ambient EP challenge, with a few added challenges, for better or for worse. Check out Bill's work here: chordsoforion.bandcamp.com

- All ideas (including song titles) on this EP are improvised in one continuous take, mistakes, ums and ahs, crap intonation, questionable musical tangents and bad pedal parameters included for all to hear. Pick them all out and I'll give you a dollar.
- 3 false starts allowed over the 5 tracks.
- One track of audio only. No VSTs, synths or external drone shenanigans. No mics either. Apologies for the scratchy bow sound.
- Analog effect manipulation only during the recording process. Mixing tools are allowed after the fact.
- Any Preconceived idea must be discarded or written down for future use in another project. Think on your ears is the intent here.

I highly doubt anyone will really read this far, but I just wanted to express my frustrations on so many things through this EP - musically, mentally and otherwise. Unfortunately, I am not great at articulating my thoughts (surprise, surprise), so this is the only way I can really do that. I know no one really asked for it and that people go through much worse through life, but I don't really have the confidence or courage to actually say what's going on in this fucked up mess of a brain. I reckon people have far better and more productive things to do, haha.

Anyway, I know it's a cliche, but if you're feeling shitty, please say something to someone; even if you feel like a burden. Sometimes, verbalising your criticisms towards the world, situation, or even yourself can help, it could open the door to a wider discourse that can change your perspective and who knows? If all else fails, it might just keep you from releasing an ambient solo bass EP.
